Class #3 Question 1

1) Random Access Memory is a form of computer storage.  RAM devices allows data items to be read and written simultaneously.  This is regardless of the order the data has come.  This is in contrast to CD-ROMs which depend on the time required to read and write data items varies significantly depending on their physical locations on the recording medium, due to mechanical limitations such as media rotation speeds and arm movement delays.

     RAM takes the form of integrated circuits.  There are however many types of SRAM that are random access.  RAM is associated with volatile types of memory. This is where stored information can be lost if the power is lost.
